MG warranty extended, pricing sorted

China’s ‘British’ brand puts a stake in the ground.

AS of December 1 the warranty provision for new MG cars will grow to seven years, an extension of two years over the present setting.

MG Motor Australia and New Zealand today announced this intent, plus introduction of ‘drive- away, no more to pay’ transparent pricing which effectively means there’s no haggling or dealer manipulation of the sticker.

The provision of a seven-year warranty also couples with a seven-year roadside assistance package and also a seven-year warrant of fitness initiative, which covers the cost of every inspection over that period, not any replacement components.

The new package is not retrospective, but it is transferable from one owner to the next.

Brand chief executive Peter Ciao, above, believes the initiative will provide “enhanced surety for all new MG buyers.”

MG product has been subject to a five year warranty.

Also commencing on December 1, all MG vehicles will be advertised with drive-away pricing across the country, meaning the price displayed is the final price a customer will pay, Ciao says.

“We want to challenge the notion that a second-hand vehicle is the only option for buyers looking for an affordable car,” he said.

“Drive-away pricing adds a new level of transparency and makes the buying process very straightforward.”
