TWO versions, introducing new trim line names in the BMW lexicon – so, ‘Inspiring’ for base, ‘Impressive’ for more upmarket – and pricing settled.

That’s the latest from Munich’s local distributor, with BMW New Zealand announcing it will have the electric version of its X3 crossover in the market at $114,900 and $124,900, both with a common 210kW/400Nm drivetrain.

Supply to Australasia was delayed to enable provision of product with update features, mainly styling tweaks to show closer association with the newest BMW electric vehicles, the iX SUV and i4.

BMW quotes 0-100kmh in 6.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 180kmh. Maximum range also stands at 460km.

A full recharge using an 11kW wallbox takes around 7.5 hours however the car also supports much faster 150kW DC rapid charging. Take that option and it will achieve 10–80 percent capacity in 32 minutes. BMW says 10 minutes of charging will provide enough electricity to cover 100km.

You’ll want to avoid home charging off a three-pin plug; getting an exhausted car up to 80 percent replenishment by that method requires a whopping 44 hours’ dedication.

The rear-drive model sources from the BMW Brilliance Automotive facility in Shenyang, China.

All NZ-bound models come with an M-Sport styling package as standard. Inspiring is on 19 inch wheels and Impressive takes 20s.

BMW lists eight options, the most expensive being the tow bar – that’s a $2600 item – and the LED laserlight headlamps, for $2500. Adaptive M suspension adds $1100.
