Valhalla gives Aston a Monaco win, of sorts
/The F1 race effort was off, but the Brit brand’s new supercar was a crowd pleaser at the principality.
ASTON Martin’s results in the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix were nothing to crow about - Fernando Alonso failed to finish and whole team-mate Lance Stroll got to the end, he was well off the pace.
Still, it was good weekend for the brand’s road car division; they got to show off their latest opus, also with Alonso at the wheel.
The Valhalla has been seen before in public, but only as a static showing. This was a dynamic debut, with two-time F1 world champion Alonso showing something of the hybrid-powered supercar’s 793kW potency and lending opportunity to hear its growl.
Aston Martin assures the car represents a merger of cutting-edge technology with Formula 1 performance DNA.
Developed in close collaboration with Aston Martin Performance Technologies, Valhalla boasts a 4.0-litre twin-turbo flat plane V8, from Mercedes-AMG, paired with an e-motor and all-wheel drive system, featuring a new eight-speed DCT and front axle torque vectoring.
Only 999 units will be produced, with deliveries beginning in the second half of 2025.
Alonso, who has basically been the project;s development driver, said the drive was “a fantastic moment for both myself and the brand,” praising the supercar’s dynamic capabilities and emotional impact. Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark added that Valhalla’s dynamic bandwidth set a new benchmark for the brand’s engineering and design teams.
