Updated Corolla Cross signalled

ROLLOUT of the refreshed Corolla Cross has been signalled, with a fresh derivative among enhancements.
A new GR Sport grade avails with a mid-life update of the compact crossover, but Toyota New Zealand has yet to share pricing and local availability for the new line, which usurps a choice that has availed since late 2022.
The updated range continues with a 135kW/190Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine with Toyota New Zealand promising affordability, efficiency, and low running costs.
Andrew Davis, chief strategic officer for the Palmerston North operation, says the vehicle's fuel economy and lower carbon emissions make it suitable for eco-conscious drivers.
The update models are identified by having a redesigned front bumper and grille, plus there are two new exterior colour options, while the Limited can be had in a two tone.
The GX, GXL, and Limited are all in front-wheel drive; GR Sport alone brings all-wheel-drive.
It has exclusive styling, is expected to ride on 19-inch wheels and TNZ promises enhanced handling as result of it being meted lowered sports suspension and a different power-steering tune. It also takes a Sport drive mode.
Implemented to all versions is a low-speed pedestrian warning system, called Vehicle Approach Notice; this might trigger when the car is operating purely on electric.
The infotainment is also expected to upgrade to wireless Android Auto. A wireless smartphone charger, heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, and an upgraded 360-degree camera with a see-through view, ventilated front seats, a revised 18-inch alloy wheel design, and centre console illumination are also expected, though some of these will likely restrict to the GXL.
The original line-up launched at $41,990 and topped out at $51,990, with the car then also benefitting from a modest low emissions’ rebate.
