High-end Euro hotties en route

Porsche and Maserati have fresh fare for the well-heeled.

PERFORMANCE marques Porsche and Maserati have announced timings and pricing for impending products.

The electric Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and fossil fuelled Maserati GranTurismo coupe and open-top GranCabrio are, of course, all high-end products.

The Porsche is starting at $459,900, but costs even more with a Weissach trim in which the brand has just delivered some hot lap times.

The Italian fare registers at $340,000 Modena and $390,000 Trofeo in GranTurismo, and $415,500 in GranCoupe.

The Turbo GT and the Weissach both pack 580kW, which can be upped to 760kW for 10 seconds, or 815kW when in launch control. Maximum torque is 1340Nm.

The Maseratis come with the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 ‘Nettuno’ engine. Every variant has a different output. The Modena coupe has 365kW, the Trofeo makes 410kW. GranCabrio has 404kW.

The coupe also goes electric next year. The Folgore (for lightning) derivative has three 300kW electric motors (two at the back, one at the front), providing a continuous output of 567kW. It’s more accelerative than the others, with 0-100kmh in 2.7 seconds promises. The car’s 92.5kWh battery provides a range of up to 455km.

In releasing Turbo GT’s detail, Porsche also notified that the car has set lap records at the Nurburgring, Germany, and Laguna Seca circuit, in the United States.
