CR-V choice, pricing broadens
/Honda’s biggest sports utility line-up now has a new entry product, but also asks flagship fans to bring more cash.
THREE years on from launch, the Honda CR-V has undergone a mid-life revision, which expands the range to four versions, the entry choice becoming cheaper but the flagship becoming more expensive.
When the petrol model released in 2023, the line encompassed three editions, topping with a $67,990 front-drive e:HEV RS with a then new 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors, delivering 135kW and 335Nm.
That sat above two Sport editions - a $53,000 all-wheel-drive five-seater and a $57,000 front-drive seven seater, both with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol making 142W/243Nm.
The family now starts with a $51,000 CR-V X 2WD as the cheapest choice. with the CR-V L AWD at $59,000. A front-wheel-drive Hybrid X variant costs $62,000. All those continue with the 1.5 VTEC, with power and torque now listed at 140kW and 240Nm.
The flagship CR-V Hybrid RS AWD still tops the range, but it is now $75,000 plus on-road costs.
Honda NZ says technology and safety features have updated. All models include Honda Sensing driver assistance technology, digital driver displays, and touchscreen infotainment systems. The highest spec adds a 360-degree multi-view camera, a Head-Up Display (HUD), and access to Honda Connect and Google-based services.
