Bond cars take spotlight

A Kiwi has a lead role, but really the cars are the stars.

TALK about star power – and, sorry, we’re not talking so much about the human element.

To mark the release of the last Daniel Craig-involved Bond film, ‘No Time To Die’, Jaguar has a made a short film, ‘The Hottest Ticket.’.

The plot is straightforward.  Jaguar Racing’s Formula E driver, Aucklander Mitch Evans, aims to be amongst the very first to see the film. But as he gets into his car, an XF R-Dynamic HSE, he unwittingly drops his tickets to the screening. Fortunately for him, free runner and Parkour athlete Lynn Jung just happens to be passing by. You can work out what happens next, yes?

The next few minutes are all about the athlete chasing Evans’ car through London. The PR blurb makes the 10km pursuit sound more action-packed than it is. Mitch is clearly sticking to the speed limit. No skids, no smoke. No gunfire. No dialogue, either. So no : Evans, Mitch Evans.”

Never mind. There is one good reason to watch.

Cleverly, the film’s makers have saved the day with some smart product placements.

Oh-oh-seven fans will spot a few familiar faces along the route. The bullet-holed XF from No Time to Die makes a cameo. Look closely and you’ll spot notable Jaguar models that appeared in past films, including the C-X75 from Spectre (2015) and the XKR Convertible from Die Another Day (2002).
