Minor changes are coming to Mazda’s smallest crossover.

REGRESSION from five to four derivatives, adoption of a fresh performance designation and price increases will arrive with a rejig of a popular small Mazda crossover.

Two front-wheel drive and two all-wheel-drive choices, and three engine ties, figure in the CX-30 from next month.

The range still starts with a 2.0-litre front-drive GSX, and again tops with a four-wheel-drive Takami, both in 2.0-litre form, the first now for $43,390, a $200 increase, and the latter now at $57,790, a $1200 climb.

The base car keeps a 114kW/200Nm engine and the most expensive choice continues with a hybrid type, again with 132kW and 224Nm. The entry engine is said to be four percent more efficient now.

Also continuing is the brand’s core four-cylinder, the 2.5-litre that runs in many of its models. That engine continues to deliver 139kW and 252Nm.

In continuing to place in a now $53,790 Limited trim, with all-wheel-drive, it also configure in front-drive with an SP25 designation, for $45,990.

This appears to supplant the $45,190 SP20 in the previous range. Mazda reminds SP25 is a historic tag, which has featured on a number of its cars over the years.

Adoption of a 10.5 inch infotainment screen, much larger than that in the pre-facecar car, has occurred, but only for the Limited, with the other variants retaining the original size. All 2024 derivatives take USB-C charging ports replacing USB-A and update to wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
